WORKOUT RECAP

Guys! I'm getting back into a workout routine.  My weeks were like rollercoasters -- up and down, up and down.  I was so sick of the stress & I kept saying something needed to change.  I regrouped and have regained my focus on my health (I didn't really lose it)...I have felt less stress.  I know I am failing at things (a lot of things, mind you!) but I guess for right now, I just don't care.  I choose to be happy, and if that means I fail at certain things, so be it.

{Monday} 3 mile treadmill run.  Lovely.

{Tuesday} Power pump class.  Love this class!!! It kills me every time.

{Wednesday} 5 mile treadmill run.  My hamstrings were pretty tight after my class, so I took it nice and easy.

{Saturday} 9 mile run.  This went better than my previous long runs, but I am still shocked at how much retraining I am having to do for this next half marathon.  Oh, did I tell you? No, I did not.  I signed up for a half marathon on Thanksgiving morning.  Woo.  I am going to enjoy my pumpkin pie!!

For the Big Cottonwood Half, I knew the route was down the canyon, so my long runs were also down a canyon (for the most part).  This route on Thanksgiving will be flat, so I'm trying to stick to mostly flat courses for my training.  It is a lot harder mentally, that's for sure.  I am battling negative thoughts for the first 3 miles usually!

I have loved this alone time, though.  During the week, my thoughts get so scrambled.  Having time to just think really does wonders for me.  It doesn't hurt that the leaves are turning, either!

This Week's Plan:

Runs: 3, 5 @ 1/2 Pace, 10
Other: Power pump class, yoga, another weight workout

Sidenote: Be expecting a life update soon.  I know that no one really cares about my workouts, but it keeps me accountable...

  1. I love reading about your work outs. I wish I could try that Power Pump class with you. I think it's so great that you are really loving running. I think I am going to be putting running behind me for a season. I've discovered that I can walk fast on the treadmill and read while I do it - that's nice. I'm going to check out a nearby yoga studio for a class once or twice a week. Running here is just not enjoyable enough for me. The treadmill is okay - but I miss being outside. Those fall colors look amazing. I really want to skype with you? Get an update. Love you lots Aunt Emily! Really do! Talk soon?

    1. Heather,

I really love the class. I work so much harder than I would on my own, and I always feel great afterward. I can't imagine running outside there -- too hot! I used to read while I would walk on the treadmill. I loved it.

By the way, we are going to read Allegiant soon. I am so glad you reminded me!
